Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the area, producing strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Locals reported giant hailstones as large as seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Victorian Weather Woes

State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mainly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

At one point on Sunday, over 28,000 power users in the state were lacking electricity.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were expected to linger along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential anticipated across various areas of both areas.
Safety Concern
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the region.
