Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
